This project focuses on the development of the aviation industry in Minnesota. It includes interviews with early aviators, mechanics, airport developers, fixed station operators, barnstormers, flight instructors and regulatory officials. These men and women describe the early airplanes, their interest in flying and how they learned to fly, and many discuss how they thought the future aviation would unfold versus what actually happened. Each interview contains anecdotes about flying, both amusing and tragic and remembrances of various colleagues.
